Yuen Pau Woo, President, HQ Vancouver

wooI have over 25 years experience in strategy and policy for business, government and not-for-profits. Born in Malaysia and brought up in Singapore, I currently live in Vancouver, where I have a small consulting practice to complement my research, teaching, and business/cultural promotion activities.  I started my career as a Research Associate at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and went on to the Economics Department of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation.  I have served as an advisor/consultant to businesses, the World Bank, the OECD, the Asian Development Bank, APEC, and various government agencies in Northeast and Southeast Asia.  As President and CEO of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada from 2005-2014, I led a major expansion of the organization.  For ten years, I served on the Standing Committee of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) and was the founding chair of PECC’s annual flagship State of the Region Report.  I am chair of the Board of Trustees of the Vancouver Academy of Music, and on the boards of the Public Policy Forum and the Ontario Brain Institute. Other appointments include the Global Council of the Asia Society, and the Advisory Boards of the Canadian Ditchley Foundation and the Salvation Army.  In 2012, I was honoured with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award for my contributions to Canada-Asia relations.  My firm, Yuen Pau Woo Consultants Inc., provides advisory services on business and public policy issues in the Asia Pacific region
