Tom Ruth joined Edmonton Airports as President and Chief Executive Officer on January 27, 2014. Edmonton International Airport (EIA) is Canada’s fastest growing airport in the last decade and Tom is responsible for the management and operation of both EIA as well as the nearby Villeneuve Airport which serves the general and recreational aviation sectors.
Prior to joining Edmonton Airports, Tom was President of Halifax International Airport, a position he held since 2008. Halifax Stanfield International Airport (HIAA) handles half of Altantic Canada’s passenger and air cargo traffic, and under Tom’s leadership, HIAA was recognized with several global “best in class” awards for customer service. Tom was formerly President & CEO at Oceanex Inc. until its privatization late in 2007. From 2004-2007, Tom was President of Canadian North Airlines, a profitable 100 percent aboriginal-owned airline connecting Edmonton, Ottawa, and Calgary to Canada’s North.
From 1994-2004, Tom held numerous executive positions including Senior Vice President at Livingston International, Canada’s largest cross-border logistics, freight-forwarding and brokerage company. Prior to his tenure at Livingston, Tom worked for Northwest Airlines for 10 years and was General Manager of the Eastern North America Region in the cargo department.
