Raymond Chan, Deputy Mayor, City of Los Angeles

chanmRaymond Chan is a licensed Structural Engineer, Civil Engineer, Building Contractor, and Real Estate Broker. He was selected as the “2013 Building Official Of The Year”, by the California Building Official Association. He has 32 years of experience with the City, 27 in management positions. His innovative and collaborative leadership accomplishments led to his appointment as Deputy Mayor over Economic Development. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Chan served as General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS). As LADBS’ General Manager, he directed the operations of five bureaus, approximately 1,000 employees with a $160 million budget. Mr. Chan initiated and implemented more than 70 enhancement programs at LADBS, 20 of which have received a Productivity Improvement Award from the City’s Quality and Productivity Commission and three received a Mayor’s Civic Innovative Awards
