Dr. Miguel Rodrigues is a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. Currently posted to the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa, where his portfolio includes Arctic affairs, he served on the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff from 2012 to 2014, focusing on the European Union, its member states, Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland, and on global health. Other postings include Lithuania, Mexico City, the Dominican Republic, and several assignments in Washington. While a Visiting Fellow at a Washington think tank, Dr. Rodrigues convened and moderated roundtables on European integration. A physician by training, he graduated from Dartmouth College with High Distinction in History, has Masters degrees in international affairs from Johns Hopkins SAIS and public health from Harvard, and studied economics at the State Department’s Foreign Service Institute. He speaks Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, French, and Lithuanian.
