Best known for curating and hosting the first ever TEDx in 2009 and founding two university innovation centers at MIT and USC, she has a proven track record of identifying undiscovered talent and ideas and catalyzing new initiatives that scale. Z is adjunct Professor of Innovation Practice at USC, and Mayor Garcetti recently named her Entrepreneur-in-Residence for the City of LA to focus on the ecosystem around “making” things. She has served as a contributor to Forbes and a consultant, advisor, and board member to many organizations globally, including the Obama administration and World Economic Forum. Earlier in her career she produced and edited documentaries, was a researcher at the MIT Media Lab and manufacturing engineer on the Space Shuttle Main Engine, and spent a decade in tech playing key roles at startups such as Stylus innovation (acquired by Artisoft) and Direct Hit Technologies (acquired by Ask Jeeves).
