José Antonio pursued a successful entrepreneurial and business career in the distribution sector in México; during those years he started operated, bought and sold several companies.
In 2008 he initiated a career as Public Servant in ProMéxico, the Mexican institution in charge of promoting trade and investment. In 2010 he became chief of staff to the Minister of the Economy and in 2011 he was appointed Undersecretary for Competitiveness and Business Regulation.
Since 2013 he coordinates Urbanism and Infrastructure at the Tecnológcico de Monterrey. He is a member of the Global Agenda Council on Competitiveness for the World Economic Forum.
His interest and focus is on the role of cities in economic growth, sustainability and human development; citizen centered urban transformation; the role of technology in cities governance and evolution.
