John Knight, Manager, Corporate Research Partnerships, Trent University

John has worked at Trent University for over 12 years. He is currently the Manager of Research Partnerships in the Office of Research & Innovation. He is the university’s lead for research infrastructure investment attraction which includes the development of a new 85 acre Research & Innovation Park on the Trent campus in partnership with the City of Peterborough. The Research Park has a clean technology focus. John is also the lead for the university’s extra-curricular youth entrepreneurship programing which includes the planned 2018 launch of the Trent Centre for Entrepreneurship & Social Innovation.

John’s community volunteer activities are focused around economic development, sustainability, and mentoring young entrepreneurs. He is a current Board member of the Innovation Cluster for Peterborough & the Kawarthas, and he is also on the Board for Ontario Agri-Food Technologies.

Prior to joining Trent University, John has had 20 years of experience working in business, as an entrepreneur, and as a senior manager in three different Peterborough based manufacturing companies including the Medical Products division of Johnson & Johnson.

He holds a MBA from the Ivey School of Business.
