4As a former astrophysicist and Chief Scientist of the “Urban Observatory” (UO) at the Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP), Greg applies data analysis techniques from astronomy, computer vision, and machine learning to images of New York City’s skyline to study air quality, energy consumption, lighting technology, public health, and sustainability.  In addition to his work with the CUSP-UO, he also leads data analysis projects related to equitable distribution of greenspaces, mapping long timescale economic trends across the city, surrogate measures for traffic safety, and geo-location of social media content.
