Derrick Choi, a principal with Populous, is an award-winning architect and transportation consultant with a decade of experience in complex public infrastructure, sustainability and transport planning, design and permitting assignments with over 20 municipalities and agencies in the United States and abroad – including Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Mexico, the Netherlands, People’s Republic of China, and the United Arab Emirates.
As a Project Director at a previous firm, he led the permitting and design efforts for a new US$20 million passenger terminal at Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis, Massachusetts, the design and construction administration of the recently completed US$7 million general aviation hangar facility at Quonset State Airport, Rhode Island, and served as the primary sustainability planner on a multi-year environmental planning services term contract with the Division of Aviation, City of Philadelphia.
Derrick is currently serving as Principal-in-Charge on a wide range of commissions with a focus on public sector clients. From 2008-2009, he led the architectural design efforts for a 250,000 SF office and passenger arrivals facility expansion study in Abu Dhabi International Airport. He is currently serving as Project Director of a multi-disciplinary team for the design of a new passenger terminal facility at Provincetown Municipal Airport in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and a new Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Facility in Martha’s Vineyard Airport.
