Chris McLaughlin has been Executive Director of the Bay Area Restoration Council in Hamilton since 2011. Established in 1991, BARC represents the public interest in the restoration of Hamilton Harbour and its watershed. Chris was previously the chief executive of the Niagara Escarpment Foundation and a consultant to governments, foundations and nonprofits. His PhD from McMaster University investigated the characteristics of success and failure in programs to restore the Great Lakes. Chris has published numerous reports, chapters and articles on water-related policy, management and governance, and has served the community for many years, including on the Hamilton Public Library Board and the Hamilton Conservation Authority’s Water Management Advisory Board.
