Andrew is an entrepreneur with extensive experience building, financing, and turning around businesses. His early career was spent at Patterson Companies (NASDAQ: PDCO) leading the turnaround and integration of several domestic (USA) medical consumable business operations. Later, he served as Director of Strategy and Corporate Development for the Novartis AG medical nutrition business. After Novartis, Andrew went on to lead the cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company, HFT, as CEO and Director, where he structured the entire organization, secured all funding, and led the out-licensing of the technology to a European pharmaceutical company. Afterward, he served as Managing Partner of Coordinate Capital, a biotechnology venture capital fund partnered with the global billion dollar (USD) venture firm, Burrill & Company.
He has lectured and taught at Cambridge University, United Kingdom, Carlson School of Management, USA, and Hamline University School of Law, USA, on venture capital financing, technology transfer and commercialization, and open innovation. Andrew has lived and been educated in New Zealand, Mexico, Austria, and the United States. He is fluent in Spanish and holds a BS in Biology from the University of Minnesota – Duluth and a MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
